VODACOM supports 5 children’s Surgical Operations
On February 2010, Vodacom and the Heart Institute (ICOR) signed between them an Understanding Memorandum, through which Vodacom will finance 5 heart surgeries for 5 disadvantaged children suffering from heart problems.
Vodacom's support also includes medical and medication monitoring for the 5 children during a period of 12 months starting from the date of the operation.
The Heart Institute was created 9 years ago and it is a non-profit organization and it survives mainly on donations from Mozambican companies and civil society. To date 68,775 patients have been assisted and 641 cardiac surgeries have been performed from which 87% of surgeries were completely free for the patients.
With this support to the Heart Institute, Vodacom believes that it is another step taken and it is another battle won for the children of Our Mozambique so that they have a bright future.
