Vodacom Mozambique is a Mozambican company that started operations in Mozambique in December 2003, and since the beginning, their primary objectives were the same: to offer a mobile network of high quality, reliable and achieve market leadership.

The Vodacom Group's shareholders include Vodacom International Limited 85%; and local partners such as EMOTEL – Empresa Moçambicana de Telecomunicações, SARL 5%; Intelec Holdings, Limitada 5% Whatana Investments, Limitada 5%.

Dr. Salimo Abdula, a representative of the shareholder Intelec Holdings Limited, is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vodacom Mozambique since April 1, 2009. The Chairman of the Board of Directors is appointed by a bi-annual basis, with the location rotating among all shareholders.

In June 2006 Vodacom launches GPRS data service, at the time, the only company operating with EDGE technology and together with the innovative Clique services and packages.

In March 2009 Vodacom reaches a market share of 44.7%, the same year when it launches third generation mobile services, better known as 3G.

Determined to lead and always offer the best, Vodacom has undertaken several measures of social responsibility in several areas such as, schools rehabilitation and constructionf, provision of computer rooms and stationery to several schools throughout the country. Thus, Vodacom strides with eyes fixed on their objectives, providing tudobom to Mozambique.

Official launch of third generation network (3G)

Vodacom Mozambique announced today the launch and implementation of the 3G technology, an investment of 170 millions Meticals. With access to third generation network, Vodacom's customers can navigate more quickly, since 3G offers faster data transmission. The multimedia services in real time constitute another benefit resulting from the 3G implementation.
