Gmail SMS
The service Gmail SMS allows you to exchange SMS message between your Gmail account and a mobile phone. See, below, the functionality of this service that is only brought to you by Vodacom.
How to use this service?
The service is availavle in your Gmail account. There, the activation of the service is free since the customer has a Gmail account.
To use this service, you only need to follow the steps below:
- Access your Gmail account and select Send SMS in the left panel;
- Introduce the Vodacom number of the person with whom you desire to start your chat;
- Press ENTER and save the contact number;
- A dialog box will appear in the left corner of your computer, introduce your message and press ENTER to send the message.
- The recipient of your message will have the opportunity to reply the message sent from Gmail. He/she will also receive a notification message from the operator (Vodacom) informing that you wish to start chating with him.
The person who receives the SMS from Gmail has the opportunity to reply the message and continue the chat. SMS's sent from Gmail are zero rated (free) but those that are sent from mobile phone are charged according to the normal tariff plan.
