Vodacom associate theirselves to FDC to build a school in Chidenguele

Vodacom, in association with Vodafone Foundation, has just established a partnership with FDC - Foundation for Community Development which aims to enhance the Program of Support to Education in Rural Areas.

With this partnership, the Vodacom Foundation and Vodafone will invest about 2.8 million MT for the construction of a block of classrooms, administrative block and toilets and will ensure the equipment of the school with furniture, contributing annually for 400 more children have access to education at a basic level primary school, located in the Village of Chidenguele, in Gaza Province.

To ensure sustainability of the project, the local communities will be trained about the maintenance of school infrastructure.

"Vodacom has been investing in building schools, cradles of knowledge to younger generations. Our partnership with UK-based Vodafone Group allowed us to obtain support of Vodafone Foundation in this initiative that has FDC as our partner", says José dos Santos, Chief Executive of Vodacom.

"This initiative prides ourselves and seeks a common good: more and better education for children of the village of Chidenguele“.

This project is the result of the action plan of social responsibility conducted not only by Vodacom Mozambique but also by its partner, Vodafone Foundation, which found in FDC credentials that enable it to carry out the project successfully and quality required.

Since the beginning of its activities, Vodacom has consistently supported the education sector through the construction and rehabilitation of schools, installation of computer laboratories and equipment for school libraries, in partnership with other entities such as the Ministry of Education.
